Day 1: Arrival in Haridwar/Rishikesh

Day 2: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Govindghat (1,900 meters)

  • Drive from Haridwar/Rishikesh to Govindghat (approx. 9-10 hours).
  • The road journey takes you through picturesque landscapes and small Himalayan villages.
  • Overnight stay in Govindghat.

 

Day 3: Govindghat to Ghangaria (3,049 meters)

  • Start the trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria (approx. 13 kilometers).
  • The initial part of the trek involves a gradual ascent, crossing the river Alaknanda multiple times.
  • Reach Ghangaria, a small settlement that serves as the base camp for the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib.
  • Overnight stay in Ghangaria.

 

Day 4: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers (3,658 meters) and back

  • Early morning trek to the Valley of Flowers (approx. 3 kilometers).
  • Spend the day exploring the enchanting meadows, spotting diverse flowers, and enjoying the pristine beauty.
  • Return to Ghangaria in the afternoon.
  • Overnight stay in Ghangaria.

 

Day 5: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 meters) and back

  • Begin the trek to Hemkund Sahib, a sacred Sikh shrine located at an altitude of 4,329 meters (approx. 6 kilometers).
  • The trail involves a steep ascent, passing through forests and beautiful landscapes.
  • Visit the Gurudwara (Sikh temple) and the stunning Hemkund Lake.
  • Descend back to Ghangaria.
  • Overnight stay in Ghangaria.

 

Day 6: Ghangaria to Govindghat and drive to Joshimath

  • Descend from Ghangaria to Govindghat.
  • From Govindghat, drive to Joshimath (approx. 1 hour).
  • Rest and relax in Joshimath.
  • Overnight stay in Joshimath.

 

Day 7: Joshimath to Haridwar/Rishikesh

  • Drive back from Joshimath to Haridwar/Rishikesh (approx. 9-10 hours).
