Day1: Starting Point

The trek usually starts from the village of Sankri, which is well-connected by road from Dehradun. Sankri serves as the base camp for the trek.

Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab

The trek begins with a gradual ascent from Sankri through dense pine forests and meadows. You’ll pass through the scenic village of Purola and continue towards Juda Ka Talab, a beautiful frozen lake surrounded by snow-covered mountains. Camping near the lake offers a serene experience.

Day 3:Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp

From Juda Ka Talab, the trail ascends further towards the Kedarkantha Base Camp. You’ll trek through picturesque landscapes, including meadows, oak forests, and snow patches. The base camp is located in a serene clearing amidst the mountains.

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit and Return to Hargaon

From the base camp, you’ll trek to the summit of Kedarkantha, which stands at an elevation of around 3,800 meters (12,500 feet). Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of prominent peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. After spending some time at the summit, you’ll descend back to Hargaon, a scenic campsite nestled amidst pine forests.

Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri

On the final day, you’ll descend from Hargaon back to Sankri. The trail takes you through enchanting forests, beautiful meadows, and charming villages. Reach Sankri, where you can relax and celebrate the completion of the trek.

The Kedarkantha trek is renowned for its winter charm, typically undertaken between December and April, when the trail is covered in snow. The snow-clad landscapes, frozen lakes, and panoramic mountain views make it a captivating experience.
